President Obama will meet next week with Mexican President-elect Enrique Pena Nieto, with one of the topics likely to be possible changes to U.S. immigration law.
Congressional Republicans say they are more amenable to a comprehensive immigration bill in light of the recent election in which GOP candidates fared poorly.
Obama says he wants an immigration bill that will provide a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants who are already in the country, as well as tighter border security.
Here is the White House announcement on next week's U.S.-Mexico meeting;
