This column, by Patrick Roberts, is from Irish Central, which describes itself as "a one-of-a-kind website for the global Irish community." The article describes the political conflict between Rahm Emanuel, President Obama's chief of staff, and Congressman Luis Gutierrez, both from Chicago, over immigration and the possibility of their competing to become the next mayor of Chicago (replacing Irishman Richard Daley). Ya gotta love both the Irish and Chicago, especiallly when it comes to Chicago politics.
The MexicoBlog of the Americas Program, a fiscally sponsored program of the Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR), is written by Laura Carlsen. I monitor and analyze international press on Mexico, with a focus on security, immigration, human rights and social movements for peace and justice, from a feminist perspective. And sometimes I simply muse.
