Immigration Legislation: Anti-Arizona Immigration Lawsuit Moves Forward

This lawsuit by the ACLU is a separate action from the Justice Department suit that already led the same judge to grant an injunction against major parts of the law. This suit is based on different constitutional issues than the government's, which is based on the state not having the power to preempt federal powers to regulate immigration.

Anti-Arizona Immigration Lawsuit Moves Forward - The Washington Independent: "Opponents of SB 1070, Arizona’s much-contested immigration law, got a boost Friday when a federal judge ruled against the state’s efforts to block a lawsuit charging racial discrimination and unlawful search and seizure under the law. The lawsuit was brought by a coalition of groups including Friendly House and the ACLU." Oct. 12, 2010
