Another glimpse into the Secure Communities program. Here the double message of the Obama administration is given by Secretary Napolitano. First she says, "We want to remove criminal aliens," as if that were the goal of the Secure Communities program. But then she boasts that "more illegal immigrants are being removed ... than ever before," the real, political goal of the program.
Homeland security chief discusses new system at Lexington jail: "Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, in Lexington Thursday to talk to local leaders, announced a new system (Secure Communities) for the Fayette County Detention Center that allows jail officials to more easily identify aliens who have broken the law somewhere else and the immigration status of aliens who are booked into the facility.
''We want to remove criminal aliens,' she said. ... Napolitano also said that more illegal drugs, cash and weapons are being seized than ever before and that more illegal immigrants are being removed from the United States than ever before.
'All we can do is produce the results and talk about them,' she said in response to a question about how homeland security issues are portrayed on talk shows." Oct. 7, 2010, Lexington Hearld-Leader
