Immigration Politics: Indiana senator wants Arizona-style immigration law

Oh, those local politics!

Indiana senator wants Arizona-style immigration law - chicagotribune.com: "An Indiana state senator is proposing a bill that he says would implement an Arizona-style crackdown on illegal Immigration.

The bill proposed by Sen. Mike Delph, R-Carmel, would require police to ask for proof of citizenship or Immigration status if they had a reasonable suspicion that a person is illegally in the country. ...

It's unclear whether the bill could gain traction in the GOP-ruled Statehouse. Delph has repeatedly pushed Immigration proposals, but they have never passed. Several business organizations have opposed previous bills, saying Indiana's economy could suffer if the proposal passes, hurting both illegal workers and American citizens." Jan. 14, 2011
