One of the big, bad immigration wolves doesn't get his wishes.

King will not lead immigration panel The Des Moines Register: "U.S. Rep. Steve King, one of the most zealous House opponents of illegal immigration, will not lead the new Republican majority's immigration policy subcommittee.

The Republican from Kiron has been the ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee's immigration and enforcement subcommittee since 2007.

But Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith of Texas announced Friday that King would be vice chairman, and that California Rep. Elton Gallegly would lead the subcommittee." Jan. 8, 2011
