Mexican Government Touts Importance of Trade Deals: "Top officials of Mexican President Felipe Calderon’s administration stressed the importance of expanded trade ties with regional neighbors in an appearance before the Senate, which must ratify any free trade agreements that are signed.
Free trade agreements are necessary to prevent “the Mexican economy from taking a step backward,” Foreign Relations Secretary Patricia Espinosa said, adding that they offer a “vision” of the role Mexico intends to play in the region and throughout the world."
