Immigration Madness: Lawmaker apologizes for immigration remark

Having had his hand slapped by the governor, the Kansas legislator - who suggested that undocumented immigrants be shot like feral pigs - apologizes.

Lawmaker apologizes for immigration remark - UPI.com: "A Kansas state lawmaker has apologized for his comments about shooting illegal immigrants as a way of addressing the issue. State Rep. Virgil Peck of Tyro distributed a statement on the House floor Tuesday in which he said his statements were unfortunate, The Kansas City (Mo.) Star reported.

"My statements were regrettable. Please accept my apology," Peck said in the signed one-page statement. ....

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, a Republican, rebuked Peck Tuesday, saying the representative should apologize. Brownback said he understands the public's frustration about illegal immigration, but Peck's remarks were out of bounds. "This isn't the way to handle it or deal with it. I think it's completely inappropriate," Brownback said during a news conference. "This is no way to discuss the issue."
