lmmigration Politics - Utah: Comprehensive immigration reform

An interesting development in Utah

The Republic - Comprehensive immigration reform: "A (Utah) Senate committee has passed a comprehensive immigration reform bill while holding a separate enforcement bill.

Republican Sen. Curt Bramble of Provo says Senate Bill 288 incorporates enforcement provisions and a guest worker program into one bill to ensure the laws coordinate.

The bill removes the more stringent enforcement provisions associated with an immigration law passed in Arizona last year.

Bramble says the bill, which passed the Senate Revnue and Taxation Committee 7-1 Tuesday, works better for Utah. While it still punishes illegal immigrants who break the law, it offers an avenue for people already in the state illegally to remain with their families as workers."
