Sen. Jon Kyl, John McCain present border security bill | The State Column: "Arizona U.S. Senators Jon Kly and John McCain are floating a proposed border security bill aimed at mandating 6,000 troops on the Mexican border, 5,000 more Border Patrol agents by 2016 and hundreds of millions in additional border security spending.
A version of the proposed bill was introduced in the House by Republican Rep. Jeff Flake. Mr. Flake has announced his intention to seek Mr. Kyl’s senate seat in 2012.
The bill, as introduced Wednesday, may also introduce funds for the prosecution of undocumented immigrants stopped along the border. It will also increase funding for local law enforcement and allow for more fencing to be built."
