Immigration Politics - Arizona: Some Republican senators help stop immigration bills

Wow! Some sane Republican state senators in Arizona!

Some Republican senators help stop immigration bills: "A varying group of Republican senators broke from the pack and voted against five immigration bills that were central to (Senate) President Russell Pearce's agenda. Their 'no' votes, coupled with those from the Democrats, stopped the bills in their tracks and prevented the state from another round of national and international attention.

The most notable was a pair of bills that would have established a separate Arizona standard for determining citizenship; designed, sponsors said, to push the U.S. Supreme Court to reinterpret how children born in the U.S. to illegal immigrants are granted citizenship under the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution."
