Attorneys schedule announcement this morning on Alabama's immigration law | al.com: "Attorneys with civil-liberties groups who have announced plans to try to block Alabama's immigration law from taking effect have scheduled an announcement concerning the law here at 11 a.m. today.
One of the attorneys declined to say publicly if they planned to announce the filing of a lawsuit in federal court.
Attorneys for the Southern Poverty Law Center, which is based in Montgomery, the National Immigration Law Center, based in Los Angeles and the ACLU's national office in New York and Alabama office in Montgomery plan to be at the announcement, according to the press release. Legislators passed and Gov. Robert Bentley signed Alabama's immigration law last month. The law says most of its provisions don't take effect until Sept. 1."
