Drug War Militarization: American military officials meet with Mexican counterparts in Matamoros

ValleyCentral.com: "A meeting between American and Mexican military forces south of the border in Matamoros drew a lot of attention. Action 4 News spoke with the Matamoros mayor’s office who confirmed that the meeting took place on Wednesday morning.

A convoy of American military officials crossed into Mexico at Brownsville’s International Bridge around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Witnesses told Action 4 News that the American military officials were inside SUVs that were escorted by Humvee’s filled with armed Mexican soldiers. The convoy rolled down Calle Sexta to a Mexican army facility on the city’s southside.

Matamoros city officials  said the exact details of the meeting are not known. Action 4 News placed calls to the U.S. Department of Defense as well as Mexico’s Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) but they have not released a statement."
