Immigration Politics: Napolitano folds in face of threat from Congress

Washington Examiner: "Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano, after four months of refusing to comply with a congressional request for information about the illegal immigrants DHS has chosen not to detain or deport, finally delivered the information after threatened to be held with contempt of Congress if she flouted a subpoena.

House Judiciary Chairman Lamar Smith, R-Texas, in a statement today, (said) that he had asked for "a list of illegal and criminal immigrants intentionally released by Immigration and Customs Enforcement so that the Committee can cross-check the information to see if they have gone on to commit more crimes," but DHS only gave very limited information before Smith threatened to hold Secretary Napolitano in contempt of Congress last week." read more
