Mexico to honor troops killed in drug war

KENS 5 San Antonio: The Mexican army says it will build a monument to honor soldiers killed in the fight against drug traffickers in a bid to raise morale and prevent desertion.

The Defense Department says the monument will be erected at Mexico City's Campo Marte military field and will include a cannon and a shallow pond.

The department said Wednesday the monument will cost 13.8 million pesos ($1 million dollars) and that it should be completed by December. read more
