Immigration Legislation: New Version of DREAM Act Introduced in the Senate (Round 5)

New Version of DREAM Act Introduced in the Senate (Round 5) | Feet in 2 Worlds: "This is the fifth – and most restrictive – version of the bill so far. One of the biggest changes is an increase from six to ten years that young people would have to remain in conditional non-immigrant status. Following those 10 years (assuming non-violation of the terms), they would then have lawful permanent resident status for three additional years before they could apply for naturalization.

The new version also reduces the number of immigrants who qualify, by narrowing the pool to those who would be less than 30 years old on the date of enactment, as opposed to the old bill’s cut-off at 35." Dec. 3, 2010
