Immigration Crackdown: Activists accuse Federal agents of harassing immigrants

Activists: Federal agents harassing immigrants | detnews.com | The Detroit News: "Detroit — Activists are accusing U.S. immigration enforcement officers of stalking local Hispanic immigrants on the city's southwest side as they go to church and take their children to school.

About 120 people stood in the pouring rain earlier today outside the Hope of Detroit Academy school to voice concerns that their community is targeted and 'profiled' by agents for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The officers are accused of "abusive" practices by allegedly following parents after they dropped off their children at the school. Others, they say, are followed as they attend church services.

State Rep. Rashida Tlaib, who represents southwest Detroit, said last Thursday about six ICE agents "stalked" and grabbed undocumented immigrants off the streets after they dropped their children off. Tlaib said the individuals do not have criminal records."
