Immigration Crackdown: Border Patrol disputes Arizona sheriff's no-arrests claim

Border Patrol disputes Arizona sheriff's no-arrests claim: "The chief of the U.S. Border Patrol is challenging an assertion by Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever that field agents are being ordered not to arrest illegal immigrants as they enter the United States.

Dever told Fox News last week that an unidentified Border Patrol supervisor repeatedly informed him of orders to reduce the number of undocumented aliens captured by scaring immigrants back into Mexico, rather than apprehending them.

Michael Fischer, chief of the Border Patrol, described that claim as 'completely, 100% false' in a Monday letter to the sheriff."
